Brief History of Oasis GS

Welcome to the Oasis Golf Society, a tradition that began in 1989 when a group of 16 local policemen and friends ventured to Portugal, thanks to the trip ordanised by Geoff Ward and Dave Salmon, which we still play for the original trophy.

That initial trip, held at the Mirrabelle Oasis timeshare complex, sparked the start of our society named during a memorable presentation night dinner. Over the years, we've explored beautiful golf courses in Portugal, Spain, and Turkey, creating lasting memories on and off the course. After more than three decades of dedicated leadership, I've handed the reins to my son in law Ryan, ensuring our legacy continues with passion and enthusiasm.

Memorial Trophy

Since its inception in 1998, the Memorial cup has honoured the memory of our cherished member, Paul Heather, who was the first of our founding group to pass away. Originally called the Paul Heather Memorial Cup. the name evolved over time as we sought to celebrate all members who have since left us.

Each tournament serves as a tribute to their legacy, reminding us of the bonds we share and the values they instilled in our community. when we compete for the Memorial Cup, we not only strive for victory but also commemorate the spirit of those who came before us.
